Apex launches pre-concert dining offer

Apex, the award-winning venue in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk has launched its pre-concert dining offer at the Apex Lounge, meaning concert goers will now be able to enjoy a more complete concert experience.

The Apex known for its acoustic excellence and home to a diverse programme of live music and events, will now offer guests pre-theatre dining, freshly prepared on-site by Sodexo Prestige’s professional chefs.

The new offer is based on a ‘bowl-food’ concept, which will give guests the opportunity to taste a selection of smaller dishes. Prior to every concert, guests will be able to choose from a range of cooked-to-order mains, sides and desserts, prepared using the best seasonal, sustainable and locally-sourced ingredients. The service is designed to be optimally timed before each concert, allowing guests to enjoy a meal in half an hour.

Steve Smith, Manager of the Apex for Sodexo Prestige, commented on the new offer: “We are very pleased to be able to offer the traditional pre-concert dining experience to guests of the Apex and have a selection of exciting menu options for this season. Our goal is to cater to at least a tenth of the concert audience each evening.”

With an exciting line-up of events in June and July including performances by; Joe McElderry, South Pacific and tribute band Radio Clash, Sodexo Prestige is also offering group hospitality options, including a glass of fizz on arrival served with a selection of canapés and an interval drink. Groups of ten or more will also be offered a roped-off VIP section of the Apex Lounge.

To top off the selection of offers, as proud sponsors of this year’s classical programme at the Apex, Sodexo Prestige will give classical concert-goers a free glass of wine each for tables of two and a bottle for tables of four. Admirers of classical music can head to the Apex on 28 June to take advantage of their free glass of wine for the annual Suffolk Sinfonia Summer Concert.

The new offering is part of a wider initiative for The Apex to enhance the identity of the local area as a cultural attraction. County Cllr Sarah Stamp, Cabinet member for Leisure, Arts and Culture at St Edmundsbury Borough Council, which owns, manages and programmes the iconic venue, said: “Our vision in commissioning the building was that it would provide high quality hospitality, as well as outstanding performances. I am delighted that partner, Prestige Venues & Events, has introduced pre-performance dining, I am sure it will prove to be extremely popular with our audiences and other evening visitors to the town centre.”
